Blood is a valuable resource for the management of our trauma patients and recent shortages have highlighted the importance of conservation methods. Hemostatic resuscitation with component therapy or whole blood, avoidance of coagulopathy, and strategies to mitigate blood loss until definitive hemorrhage control is achieved are paramount to achieving this goal. This lecture provides some further insight into how to achieve hemostatic resuscitation and limit blood product waste in our hemorrhagic shock trauma population.
