This one-day training will educate prosecutors, law enforcement, medics, and nurses on proving difficult strangulation cases. Strangulation is a particularly dangerous form of domestic violence. Strangulation victims are much more likely to become homicide victims than domestic partners who were never choked. The course will feature Dr. Bill Smock, Police Surgeon for Louisville Police Department and stresses the importance of investigation and encourages a team approach to ensure all stakeholders are on the same page, as there are many hurdles to prosecuting strangulation cases. There will be 7.65 CLE hours available.
