The Indy Roadrunners, ENA Chapter 134, is sponsoring an Academic Challenge for any area Emergency Department on Wednesday, November 6, 2024. It will be a night of fun competition ranging from questions to skill challenges that Emergency Nurses face daily. The cost for this event is $20.00 per participant and spectators $25.00.

The competition will begin promptly at 6:30 PM EST.
Location:
Ascension St. Vincent- William K. Nasser, MD, Healthcare Education and Simulation Center located at 1801 W. 86th Street, Indianapolis, IN 46260.
Registration
Teams will need to be registered prior to the event. Each individual team member will also need to register for the event. Once the team leader/captain has registered a team, each individual team member will receive an email directing them to register for the event.
Team Rules
The teams can consist of up to six participants four will compete and two alternates. Teams may compete with a maximum number of four participants and a minimum number of two.
The teams are to be made up of Emergency Department Staff Nurses. Nurse Educators, Nurse Managers, and Advanced Practice Nurses may not be on the competing team but maybe a lifeline. A maximum of two teams may be submitted by each facility.
The teams will compete in 25-minute timed challenges against other teams and at the end of 25 minutes, the round is over. At the end of the challenges the winners of each round and the team with the highest number of points will be in the final round. In the event of a tie, we will have a bonus question or challenge for a tie breaker. No lifelines may be used for the bonus round or tie breaker.
The challenges are a team event, with a maximum of four players participating at one time. Each team will have 45 seconds to answer questions and write their answers down; all correct answers are awarded points. Every team will be allowed one lifeline/ask a friend. If they do not know an answer, they must say they want to use the lifeline, and then they will have 15 seconds to consult with the lifeline. No lifelines may be used in the final round.
Lifeline/Ask a Friend Rules: Each team is allowed one lifeline during regular play. The Lifeline must be present and the name must be submitted prior to the beginning of play. When a lifeline is used, the team is allowed an extra 15 seconds to consult then submit the answer.
The final round will be made from the winners of each round and from the remaining teams the team with the highest points. All teams that make it to the final challenge will start with no points. The team that gets the most points from the final challenge will win. No Lifelines may be used in the final round.
Registration and Payment Information
Teams must register by Wednesday, October 30, 2024. No changes may be made to the team roster after Friday, November 1, 2024. All fees must be submitted by November 4, 2024, to participate.
The cost is $20.00 per participant. Registration fees may be paid via check for an entire team if arrangements have been made ahead of time with the chapter treasurer. This can be done online by submitting a form to Chapter 134- Indy Roadrunners at https://www.indianaena.org/contact-us. In that case,
each team member will still need to register via the online form. The treasurer will provide a comp code for the team members upon receipt of the check.

The Challenges
The academic questions will be based on all of the BCEN exams, as well as TNCC, and ENPC.

The Prizes
The first-place team will be awarded individual trophies and a plaque to display on their unit. Second and third-place teams will get ribbons.
An award will be given to the team for most spectators, so encourage your co-workers to join in the fun. The spectators must sign in and state which team they are supporting.
An award for the most original team name and presentation (t-shirt/group hats etc) may be awarded. Please submit a group photo to be placed on the big screen prior to the event to introduce your team; the spectators will vote on the most original team photo/presentation.
